PwC Singapore’s Budget 2018 proposals to enhance Singapore's economy
Singapore, 6 December 2017 – PwC Singapore today released a set of recommendations which were provided to the Ministry of Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore for consideration in relation to the upcoming Singapore Budget 2018.
Chris Woo, Tax Leader, PwC Singapore, said:
“We must continually enhance the fiscal environment to make it more conducive for Singapore to undergo our digital transformation towards becoming a Smart Nation.
“PwC’s ‘Proposals to Enhance Singapore’s Economy’ suggests some changes to enhance the fiscal environment to make it more conducive for Singapore to continue with this transformation, and to encourage innovation and enterprise.
“The proposals include key recommendations to help Singapore embrace digital disruption such as enhancements relating to intellectual property and research and development (R&D). There is also a continued need to encourage local businesses to reinvent themselves to expand their footprint locally and overseas and the proposals address how this can be encouraged. These changes will help secure Singapore’s future as a hub for businesses globally and achieve a truly high-value digital economy.”
